Social Work student ranks 8th at licensure exam

A 22-year-old Philippine Christian University (PCU) graduate, Ajeet Panemanglor, ranked 8th in the annual Social Work Licensure Exam (SWLE) held last June 26 and 27 at Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU), Quiapo.

The Philippine Regulatory Commission (PRC) released the results where 13 out of 18 examinees from PCU were included in the 580 passers among the 1,107 who took the SWLE.

The roster of PCU passers include: Enrico Almonguerra, Desiderio Camitan III, Jojin Jabel Ladroma, Ohhara Lejarde II, Lorieneth Nervar, Adrian Orozco, Roselyn Rafanan, Melanie Rambac, Melagros Aleli Rosello, Rebecca Sadiwa, Ma. Cielo Sarion and Noemi Senining.

The new social workers took the exam in five different subjects: Human Behavior and Social Environment, Social Work Policies, Field Instruction and Process, and Social Work Methods.

Panemanglor said the Social Work Department conducted a review last summer. “Prof. Jose headed the review class together with Prof. Moneda, Prof. Dublin and Prof. Leyson.”

Leyson said they want to develop three things in their students. “Tatlong bagay lang yan: comprehension, analysis and application. So pag dating nila sa review day, they would recall the theories. (The tuents should develop comprehension, analysis and application. So that when the review day comes, they will be able to recall the theories.)”

The new social worker received recognition at the General Assembly of Social Work students last July 13.

Behind the success

“Maganda yung naging review namin dito sa PCU. Kinonduct iyon ng department namin. Kumuha din sila ng speakers from other schools, kaya naging maayos yung review namin. Maganda din you handouts. Tsaka ang masasabi ko lang, tama yung sinabi ng mga professors namin na importante talaga ang stock knowledge. (The faculty conducted the review here in PCU. They also invited speakers from other schools that really helped us. They had given us relevevant discussions and useful handouts. I can say that our professors were right that stock knowledge is important),” Panemanglor remarked.
