Cop arrested over attempted robbery

A police officer landed in jail and is about to be charged with attempted robbery after the incident early yesterday along Pagcor, Malate, Manila.

The suspect identified himself as PO2 Abraham Mamicao, 30, of Malate Police Station 9, a resident of Sampaloc, Manila.

Government employee Ivy Maria Cinco, 30, said that she was walking along Pagcor employee’s parking space with her boyfriend, Bruce Gore Miller, when the suspect riding on a parked black and green Honda Wave motorcycle drove towards her right side and grabbed her handbag.

Cinco pulled her bag – containing a Nokia N95 worth P30,000 and a wallet with P3,600 inside – and Miller upon noticing grabbed Mimicao causing both of them to fell on the ground.

Pagcor security guards, Rowel Sumalde and Arlene Laride, upon noticing the incident, responded and arrested the Mamicao.

Case investigator SPO2 Berito Pineda reported the incident to Arquiza PCP and PO2 Rolando Cabalza and PO2 Carlos Chiu. The suspect was afterwards brought to the Ospital ng Maynila for a check up. Later on Mimicao was detained at the Manila Police District where police recovered a 9mm caliber pistol, and a magazine with 15 live bullets, together with his motorcycle. Maanne Lopez
