Brgy. Chairman shoots drunk man
The Manila Police District (MPD) is now in search of a barangay chairman who shot his 24-year-old constituent Friday evening at Tondo, Manila.
PO2 Ronald Carlos of MPD-General Assignment Section identified the victim as Edmund dela Vega, who is currently undergoing medical treatments at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center.
Carlos said that suspect, barangay chairman Romy de Leon, barangay 76 Zone 7, District 1, fired a caliber 22 handgun at dela Vega’s chest at around 11 p.m. Friday.
The victim was reportedly having a drinking spree in front of their house when the chairman warned them not to extend on the streets.
Instead of complying with the chairman, dela Vega answered back, which provoked de Leon’s temper and hit the victim’s face.
After a while, the chairman pulled his gun and fired at dela Vega’s chest.
Ocampo said the chairman escaped after the incident and is now being searched by the police.
De Leon will be charged with frustrated homicide. Maanne Lopez
