Athletics Dept. sponsors 1st PCU Amazing Race
The Sports and Athletics Committee launched the first Amazing Race, as one of the peaks of the University’s 61st Founding Anniversary last October 2.
Eloisa De Leon, Sports and Athletics Committee (SAC) chairperson and Athletics coordinator, said the Amazing Race aims to perk up the traditional PCU foundation week gala, merging with the Dasmariñas campus.
Merely nine out of the 16 faculty and staff teams passed the qualifications of the race.
The committee required the participants to be physically fit, an employee of PCU and to pas the medical examination.
The nine teams were the Res Dragons (red), College of Computer Studies (CCS), Rough Riders (royal blue), College of Education and Allied Programs (CEdAP), PANAHOG (green), College of Arts, Sciences and Social Work (CASSW), Kath’s Army (light blue), High School, Kaluskos Musmuses (orange), Elementary, The Royal Hunters (white), Medical/Center for Research and Instructional Material (CRIM)/Personnel/Guidance, Mandirigma (fatigue), Accounting/Treasury/Internal Audit, Nakakapagpabagabag (black), Arcade, Dasma 1 (maroon), and the Dasma 2 (yellow).
The Rough Riders won the first place with the cash prize of P10,000 and the Nakakapagpabagabag anf the Royal Hunters ranked second and third respectively.
Meanwhile, team Dasma 2 was disqualified for not showing up in race day.
The contestants went through six stations about: Arts and Culture, Fun and Festivals, Adventure and Sports, Tourists in our own school, Community Volunteering, and Only in PCU.
De Leon said the race was experimental, the very same reason why only faculty and staff of PCU participated.
The committee plans to have another Amazing Race for the students next year.
The Tres Marias canteen, E-Recruitment Agency, Innovative Publishing, Barren Manufacturing, Gatorade and Kagawad Ariel Cruz of España sponsored the trophies for the winning teams.
